Its sound acceleration is, of course, more pleasant than the V6 (which is not to be sneezed at either!). In Quebec, laments the lack of a diesel engine that was removed in 2009 after only two years of dedicated service. According to the authorities of Jeep, the engine is no longer necessary, the current V6 making at both the economy. And towing capabilities, they? For the record, note that the V6 can tow up to 5000 pounds (2269 kg) while the V8 to tow 7200 pounds (3300 kilos), excellent data. Very similar to that already provided Land Rover and Toyota / Lexus, it allows the Grand Cherokee to move to almost anywhere. A ride in a track difficult convinced us of its off-road capabilities. The approach angle is 34.3 degrees (for this, however, requires removing the lower front bumper, an operation that takes only a few minutes), the departure angle is 29.3 degrees while the ramp angle (breakover) is 23.1. These data, obtained with the air suspension to its highest level, are not equal to those of a Land Rover LR4, but at $ 40 000 less, you will not complain!


And on the road?
Where the Jeep Grand Cherokee has made great strides is in the pipe. The cabin is quiet, safe handling, roll is well controlled, even on a basic model. Moreover, suspensions, four-wheel independent, new, clinging to a more rigid chassis, are never uncomfortable. The brakes are a little too sensitive, but we soon learn to calm down the right foot. Off-road, while the Rock mode is engaged, they become much less sensitive and it is possible to drive with all the subtlety that requires extreme driving. Rest of management, whose precision on the road is not optimal. By cons, it becomes a blessing in off-road. During our test day, no cracking is inappropriate to disturb our peace.
According to Jeep, there are five good reasons to buy a Grand Cherokee: The new Pentastar V6, upscale interior and wider than before, off-road capabilities, security and value. We have no doubt that these five objectives are achieved even if very few people will make the real off-road. As for price, I would rather speak of quality / price ratio. And then this Jeep Grand Cherokee is unbeatable. You can certainly find more luxury and comfort, even off-road abilities even more security ... but at what cost?
