Jeep For Lease

There are several explanations as to the origin possibles1 named jeep, pronounced "djip" in English. They are all quite difficult to verify. Traditionally, it is accepted that the name refers to the original draft proposed by Bantam and finally developed by the Ford Motor Company under the code name "Ford GP-W". Mean either GP General Purpose ( "General Purpose"), or Government Purposes ("government use"). The word jeep would therefore come from the acronym "GP", pronounced in English "djipi." This etymology, which is found in all French dictionaries, however, is controversee.

It is now commonly accepted that the name Jeep comes from a cartoon of the 1930s, Popeye EC Segar, which appeared in March 1936 an imaginary animal named Eugene the Jeep (Pilou-Pilou called in French). "Jeep" is an onomatopoeia so commonly used by designers to imitate the cry of a bird. Skilled and possessing extraordinary powers, this little animal of the jungle is able to get out of difficult situations. The nickname "jeep" would be given to the vehicle because of its unique features.

The acronym "Just Enough Essential Parts" ("just enough essential parts") is another possible explanation. This is the first set of these vehicles was designed to be the simplest and cheapest possible. These cars were minimal, with no comfort, and built for a short period of service. However, this acronym has equally been given to the use by GIs after the first appearances on the ground of a vehicle already called jeep.

This success prompted the military officers of the company Willys to develop a civilian version of the Jeep. Subsequently, the company merged with Willys Kaiser Company, and the latter (Kaiser-Willys) was purchased by American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1970. Following its financial woes (which were definitely not caused by the Jeep division), Renault took control of AMC in the early 1980s. The brand was taken over by Renault for several years has tried to make a bridgehead into the U.S. market. In 1987, AMC was dying and was sold to Chrysler. Jeep-Eagle division was immediately created because no matter what company it is passed, the name Jeep has always been very profitable and very popular. Today, Jeep is back as a manufacturer active in most global markets and riding the wave of SUV and off-road recreation. Some Jeep models include:
